Mal Cullen to become CIBC Mellon CEO

Mal Cullen has been appointed as CEO of CIBC Mellon. He will remain a member of the board of directors of CIBC Mellon Trust Company. Cullen will be returning to Canada to assume his new role. He replaces Steven Wolff, who will retire from CIBC Mellon effective December 30, 2022, after six years of leadership.

Prior to leading CIBC Mellon, Cullen was head of digital services at BNY Mellon, overseeing the deployment of all asset servicing digital and data capabilities, including data and analytics solutions products, NEXEN digital capabilities, strategic data advisory services, and the implementation team that oversees the client experience for asset servicing and digital product and service onboarding. During his tenure at BNY Mellon, Cullen held a number of leadership and executive positions, including CEO of Eagle Investment Systems LLC, which Mellon acquired in 2001.
